A four-story Chelsea rental building is being converted into a seven-story luxury development featuring seven full-floor apartments, 6sqft reports. The building, located at 231 West 26th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, is being developed by Azimuth Development Group, which has previously worked on several residential projects in the Bronx.
The new addition will add 24 feet and 5,100 square feet of space to the building. The developer is also doing away with the existing red-brick facade and replacing it with grey brick and metal panels. The new building will feature one- to three- bedroom apartments, with one apartment on each floor, and each home will have private elevator access and an outdoor space. Long-Island based architect Afshari Shariar is the architect of record on the project.
Work is set to finish on the building in early 2017.
