One57 is once again living up to its nickname of "The Billionaire Building." It is now the priciest building in the city per square foot, surpassing 15 Central Park West, according to the latest CityRealty 100 Report, released on Wednesday. The report analyzed the top 100 condo buildings in Manhattan based on sales and average pricing over a 12-month period ending September 30 of this year. One57 emerged on top with an average 12-month price of $6,010 per square foot, an 18.5 percent increase from last year. Meanwhile, the former champion, 15 Central Park West, fell almost 10 percent to $5,726 per square foot over the same time period.
Rounding out the top five are the Residences at the Mandarin by Columbus Circle at $5,629 per square foot; The Time Warner Center, also in the same building, at $4,831 per square foot; and the Walker Tower on West 18th Street at $4,632 per square foot.
The report also looked at the most expensive sales from the last year; that prize goes to the Time Warner Center, where a five-bedroom penthouse sold for $50.9 million. One57 was right behind at second place, with a 4-bedroom selling for $47.8 million. The building also had the most number of sales last year at 37. One57 still holds the record for the most expensive sale ever: a $100.5 penthouse that was purchased in January this year.
