Back in September 2014, permits were filed for an 11-story mixed-use building across from Morningside Park in Harlem, and now just over a year later, designs have been unveiled for a project that will see the creation of a new church and 22 apartments, Harlem Bespoke reports.
The site, which is located at 99 Morningside Avenue is currently occupied by the St. Luke Baptist Church. They sold the site of the Church, along with a couple of other adjacent properties that they owned to the Azimuth Development Group, which is now constructing the new residential and church project at the site. The Church will have it's entrance on Morningside Avenue and the residences will be entered along West 123rd Street, as per Harlem Bespoke.
Aufgang Architects is in charge of designing the new site. A couple of the brownstones on the plots adjacent to the Church have been demolished for the new building, and work is now underway with an expected completion date sometime in 2017.
