In Harry Potter Spin-Off, the Woolworth Building is Magical

It's a good day for Harry Potter fans who also happen to love New York City architecture—we know there have to be some of you out there. The official trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a spin-off of the original Harry Potter series, was released today, and one NYC icon makes a very prominent cameo. In the movie, the American equivalent of the UK's Ministry of Magic is the Magical Congress of the United States of America, and its headquarters is located in none other than the Woolworth Building, according to Entertainment Weekly—you can see the entrance, as rendered on film, above.

For reference, here's the Woolworth entrance as it is today:

There's also a scene in the trailer that shows the side of a brick building partially destroyed (presumably by one of those fantastic beasts) with what appear to be tenements behind it. New York City appears on film a lot, though this is its first appearance in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World—and we're pretty excited about that.
