'Running With Scissors' Author Ditches Battery Park City Pad

New, 9 comments

New York Times bestselling author Augusten Burroughs of Running With Scissors fame has sold his Battery Park City studio for a very not-stellar $637,000—well, not-stellar by celebrity standards, anyway. 6sqft was the first to report on the sale of the apartment, which is located at 225 Rector Place.

Burroughs' former partner, Dennis Pilsits purchased the studio back in 2008 for just over $600,000. He transferred the property over to Burroughs after they split up in 2011. The studio has 615 square feet of space and offers views of the Hudson River. Amenities in the building include a gym, a roof deck, an indoor swimming pool, and a steam room. The building is steps away from the swanky Brookfield Place.

Burroughs came to prominence in 2002 with the release of the memoir, Running With Scissors, that chronicled his childhood days. The book was turned into a movie that was released in 2006, directed by Ryan Murphy, and starred Joseph Cross as Burroughs and Annette Bening as his mother.
