ODA's Cantilevered Lower East Side Building Is On the Rise

New, 7 comments

Among the many Tetris-like buildings that ODA New York currently has in the works in New York City, the cantilevered condo at 100 Norfolk Street on the Lower East Side is one of the most interesting. The 12-story building, which will eventually be home to 38 apartments, will have a tapered base that rises to a wider top that hangs over its next-door neighbor facing Delancey Street. Though it's been in the works for a few years now, it's only recently that real progress has been made on the structure, as documented by Tectonic (h/t YIMBY). As the photos below show, foundational work has begun and steel beams have reached the fourth floor.

The building is expected to be completed by 2017.
