Housing groups, led by Real Affordability for All, are protesting the city's plan to gift a development site at 15 Lafayette Avenue to Jonathan Rose Companies for $1, provided that the company makes 49 out of the 123 units in its new complex (40 percent of them) affordable. "He's giving away land for $1, why can't that land be given to not for profit?," said a member of a group that advocates for the homeless. "We know what's going to happen once he gives away this land to FOR-profit developers: more luxury apartments, more false promises." [CO; previously]
