Though prices continue to rise city-wide (don't worry, everything is definitely getting more expensive) the Journal's Anne Kadet found, with the help Streeteasy, that the median sales price actually dropped in 89 of 287 New York City neighborhoods since last year. Try telling that to the brokers, though: "Most ignored my calls and emails entirely, the way you might shun an annoying child asking too many questions about sex and death. Others questioned my entire premise, admonishing me to get my facts straight." [WSJ]
