A group of "several dozen protesters" marched today outside of superluxury condo tower One57 to call for an end to the 421-a tax abatement program, which has been decried for giving enormous tax breaks to the condo developers in exchange for a relatively insignificant investment in affordable housing. The calls for the program, which is up for renewal this year, to be repealed have been numerous, but seem somewhat unlikely to be taken up by Mayor de Blasio, who is already battling the real estate industry on multiple fronts.
