Now You Can Explore the Gowanus Canal Safely from Home

Brooklyn Atlantis, the Gowanus Canal-patrolling robotahem, Aquatic Robotic Vehicle—that a group of NYU Polytechnic students created, now has its own website, and a Google Maps Streetview page. For the researchers, this may pave the road to scientific discovery, but for you and us, it just means that we now get to tour the famously polluted canal without exposing ourselves to heretofore unknown strains of bacteria. You can also explore the researchers' data on the temperature and oxygen and pH levels in the canal, and help them out by tagging things that Brooklyn Atlantis happens across—for example: polluted water, super polluted water, diseased fish, etc.
