Two City Council members want to help tenants fight back against landlords who are illegally renting out apartments as hotel rooms on sites like Airbnb. A bill they plan to introduce today "would add the conversion of apartments for stays shorter than 30 days—which are barred by state law—to the types of tenant 'harassment' that carry fines up to $5,000." Airbnb also doesn't like the terrible people who mass-rent units that could be actual housing instead of invite people to share their own homes, so everyone's on the same page here, right?
