Times Square Heart; Larry Johnson at The Knickerbocker

TIMES SQUARE—The annual Times Square Valentine Heart will go on display next Monday. This year's heart is an "urban drum" called HeartBeat by Brooklyn-based firm Stereotank, which will "[glow] to the rhythm of a strong, deep and low frequency heartbeat sound which changes its rate as visitors approach, move around and engage with it by playing various percussion instruments." As far as Valentines Day-themed things in Times Square go, it actually sounds kind of cool. [CurbedWire Inbox]

TIMES SQUARE—The soon-to-reopen Knickerbocker Hotel, which we toured earlier this week, has announced that retired NBA All Star Larry Johnson will serve as its "Fitness Curator," which apparently means that he was in charge of selecting all the equipment in the gym. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
