Brooklyn Public Library Announces Affordable Housing Sites

New, 2 comments

The Brooklyn Public Library has revealed more details of its plan to sell off branches to developers to fund capital repairs in other branches, including the locations of the affordable housing buildings that developer Hudson Companies will build as part of the project. The 114 affordable housing units will be divided into two Clinton Hill buildings at 911-917 Atlantic Avenue and 1041-1047 Fulton Street. The 280 Cadman Plaza West branch, which Hudson acquired from the Brooklyn Public Library for $52 million ($40 million of which will go toward capital repairs) will, as previously reported, be redeveloped into a 21,500 square foot library with apartments on top, designed by Marvel Architects. Though designs for that building (above) have already surfaced, they are apparently not final as the library has announced plans for a "robust community design process [with] an online and paper survey, interactive exhibit, and series of workshops."
