The Department of Health voted today to uphold a longstanding ban on the furry creatures, despite support from Mayor Bill de Blasio and animal advocates. Ferrets are defined as "wild animals" with a natural inclination "to harm humans," and one Dept. of Health board member said she was "greatly troubled" by the push to legalize the animals.
