Mapping the Many Photographs of NYC's Subways

New, 1 comment

To outside eyes, railfandom is one of the oddest (and most oddly fervent) subcultures, and now, by harnessing the power of Flickr, trainspotter Nick Benson has created an extensive Railfan Atlas. The map is a massive collection of train pictures from all over the world, plotting geotagged Flickr photos numbering the hundreds of thousands. There is also a heat map, revealing where some of the most common hotspots for trains.

The site is fun to explore and is essential for MTA enthusiasts, whether they're looking for a vintage Redbird or the elusive garbage train.
