This Is Jamaica's Hospital, Reborn As Masses of Apartments

The residential conversion of Jamaica's bankrupt Mary Immaculate Hospital will bring 324 apartments to the former neighborhood blight. YIMBY gleaned initial renderings for the block-large site, and also noted that the redevelopment will include the addition of four new buildings (the tallest of which will stand 16 stories) and 237 underground parking spaces. Earlier reports of the conversion said apartments in the complex will be rentals. Goldstein, Hill, & West are the project architect and Meyer Chetrit, who bought the hospital for less than $12 per buildable square foot in 2009, is developing.
