The former owner of the four-story townhouse at 47 West 9th Street bought it for $12.7 million in 2008 and, one renovation later, relisted it for $28.5 million in 2011. That didn't work out so well, and he eventually settled for $16.8 million. Now the new owner, having waited the requisite three years, is taking his own crack at flipping the place, asking $26 million, sans renovation. So, good luck with that. The house is undoubtedly impressive with 9,200 square feet of space, plus outdoor spaces including terraces and rear garden stocked with furniture that does not look like it would take well to rain. The particularly cool basement level features a home theatre, fitness center, bath and steam room, and 1,000-bottle wine cellar. Whether or not it's $26 million worth of impressive...we'll see.
