Another Rent-Stablized Tenant Sued for Using Airbnb

New, 6 comments

A rent-stabilized tenant at 784 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side could be evicted because she illegally rented her apartment through Airbnb. Landlord Jacob Chetrit sued to evict Stacie Poole for renting her studio for $190/night on the short term rental website, reports the Post. Chetrit may very well be successful, considering the landmark ruling last month when a judge ordered a rent-regulated tenant to vacate his apartment after renting his apartment on Airbnb. According to the Post, court documents claim that Poole actually lives in a different apartment one block away, and she has been subletting her apartment since 2011.
