Lauren Bacallbeloved screen star, fashion icon, and arbiter of tastepassed away last year at the age of 89. As culture vultures everywhere continue to mourn, her Dakota apartment of more than five decades is already on the market, asking $26 million. Later this month, Bonham's is auctioning off her extensive collection of art, furniture, clothing, and more. As evidenced by the 375-page catalog (warning: PDF!) for "The Lauren Bacall Collection," the lovely lady was a prolific collector of lovely things that filled her home, from antique furniture and brass candlesticks to Miro sketches and Henry Moore sculptures to Chanel couture and Louis Vuitton luggage sets. (Check out the first photos of the inside of her apartment; they reveal everything about how she displayed her collectibles.) There's an overwhelming number of possessions up for bids: The auction, set for March 31 and April 1 in New York City, contains 740 lots. For those who wish to previewsand oglebeyond the computer screen, there will be an exhibition starting March 25.
