Plans Revealed for Enormous Chelsea Apartments

New, 14 comments

JDS Development Group and Largo Investments set a neighborhood record when the two firms bought 510-514 West 24th Street last year, with prices pushing $800/buildable square foot. Now, a residential building is set to rise on the site, and the first bits of information about what they plan to build have been revealed, courtesy of YIMBY.

Designed by Roman and Williams, the ten-story building will be 50,000 square feet including 10,000 square feet of retail. The actual units, however, will be enormous, averaging around 3,000 square feet each with no more than two apartments per floor. The eighth, ninth, and tenth floors will be full-floor penthouses. According to YIMBY, the building will "take strong cues from the built legacy of pre-war New York."
