Bryant Park Hotel owners Phil Pilevsky, Raymond Gindi and Joseph Chehebar are very upset with HFZ Capital over plans to open the similarly named Bryant at 16 West 40th Street, so much so that they're going to court over it. The developers of the hotel—who actually own the trademark "The Bryant Park"—are trying to bar HFZ from using the name, and also seeking over $50 million in damages. The lawsuit claims that the owners of the hotel are weighing the possibility of selling off condos under the "Bryant Park" brand. No word yet on whether the park's namesake, nineteenth-century poet/ journalist William Cullen Bryant, intends to sue both parties for the use of his name. [NYP]
