West Chelsea Loft with 500-Bottle Wine Closet Asks $7.75M

New, 20 comments

Architecture firm Omas redesigned this four-bedroom unit in the West Chelsea Lifesaver Lofts building after the current owner bought it for $3.5 million in 2011. (It had been listed, very ambitiously, for $6 million in 2009 and lingered on the market for years, enduring copious pricechops.) The renovation left it with plenty of space for displaying art, a climate-controlled 500-bottle wine closet, and a strange wooden shell in the media room/area described by the architects as "vertical roasted poplar boards and an identical ceiling that bends up and fans out into the Gallery." The enormous apartment is now back on the market asking $7.75 million.
