Giant Edward Snowden Bust Briefly Graced Fort Greene Park

New, 1 comment

Just before dawn last night, a 4-foot-tall bust of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden was erected in Fort Greene Park. A group of artists created the illicit sculpture and installed it on the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument, describing the work as an "update" to the monument " to highlight those who sacrifice their safety in the fight against modern-day tyrannies." In a video about the process and the installation made by Animal New York, one of the artists says, "We look at this as a gift to the city, but you know, sometimes gifts are not accepted." And he was right—the city removed the bust by 1:30 this afternoon.
