Amusing the Zillion reports that a Sleep Inn at Stillwell Avenue and Avenue Z will open in about three months, marking a milestonethe first hotel to open in the neighborhood in "many decades." Sure, it's not an attractive building, but it'll provide ample affordable accommodation for tourists without messing up the vibe of old-school Surf Avenue. Nostalgia (and vintage photos) remind us that the Coney Island of the past was much more idyllic, but let's try to prioritize function over form in this case. Just this once.
