Seven-Story Limestone Mansion by the Park Asks $34 Million

New, 13 comments

Home fragrance company cofounders Harry and Laura Slatkin bought this impressive townhouse on East 74th Street in 2005, paying $11.72 million, and spending untold millions more on a thorough renovation that managed to simultaneously preserve many of the original details. Updates included redoing the bathrooms in marble, and stripping all the paint so that they could repaint the place with the same shade of white favored by Lenny Kravitz. Starting in 2013, they have put the house on the market once per year (the most recent listing hit the internet yesterday), always for $34 million, and so far have failed to find a buyer as enamored by Kravitz's paint choices as they were.
