In March, Polish grocery store and Greenwood Heights staple Eagle Provisions was sold to developer George Malafis, and now it looks like a residential building will rise on the site. According to Brownstoner, the building will likely have 26 or 28 units, with parking for six cars.
The three buildings at 626-630 Fifth Avenue (Eagle Provisions is located at 628) fetched $7.5 million back in March. Together, they offer about 22,500 square feet of buildable space. Owners Richard and John Zawisny announced that the 35-year-old shop will close in two weeks, forcing South Slope residents to look elsewhere for their kielbasa.
