More New Apartments Coming to Prospect-Lefferts Gardens

New, 2 comments

Prospect-Lefferts Gardens hasn't experienced quite the same building boom as its neighbor to the north, but it is certainly on its way there. Last year, the Times "discovered" the area and reported that more than 1,000 new apartments are in the pipeline. Now a new building on Bedford Avenue will add eight more to the mix. The Q at Parkside shared a rendering of the new five-story building, describing it as a "a very 'Crown Heights' use." It will fill in a vacant lot on the corner of Winthrop Street, and the Department of Buildings approved permits at the end of April. Cohen Global Property is developing, and Caliendo Architects is designing.

The highest profile new project in PLG is the controversial 254-unit 626 Flatbush Avenue, but there are a number of other sizable projects, as well. The conversion of the Caledonian Hospital, now called 123 on the Park, created 120 new apartments, a nine-story building at 33 Lincoln Road is bringing 133 units, and developer Hello Living is building a 40-unit condo building at 651 New York Avenue. DNAinfo has details on a dozen other new buildings planned for the neighborhood.
