The owner of a squat retail building on West 29th Street has announced plans via permit filings to build a 15-story residential tower on the site. TRD first spotted permits filed by Hasso Gulrajaney for 142 West 29th Street, which indicate the investor plans to bring a 30,000 square foot building with 37 apartments and ground-floor retail to the site between Sixth and Seventh avenues. According to the permits, the building's second floor will have two apartments, while floors three through thirteen will each have three. The building' top two floors will give way to a duplex penthouse, and all be capped by a roof deck.
Because the development doesn't abide by city zoning rules, Gulrajaney will have to seek approval from the Board of Standards and Appeals. Concept Design Group is listed as the architect of record.
