Grand Gothic Penthouse of Silver Screen Fame Now Asks $7.2M

New, 51 comments

It's easy to see why the biggest penthouse atop 5 Tudor City Place served as settings for Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway and The Godfather: Part III. The 18-foot-high ceilings of the octagonal living room and the sprawling outdoor space of the two-bedroom apartment, "lined with stone pillars topped with griffins and gargoyles" with "a larger-than-life goat hold[ing] a shield," create a stunning cinematic atmosphere. (One that would seem too mansion-y to be New York-y were it not for the views of the Chrysler and the UN building.)

No stranger to silver screen fame, Windsor Tower is also home to another penthouse that was the on-screen domicile of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin during the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man franchise. In any case, PH1, a duplex with a terrace on a third level that clocks in at 3,000 square feet, last hit the market in 2012 with a $5.9 million ask. Ad man Gordon Bowen snapped it up for $6.5 million, and it's now returned to market—with no signs of a renovation—asking $7.2 million.
