In June, Extell snatched up five neighboring Upper East Side sites with the intention of bringing an Extell-y tower (big, expensive) to the property, and now first renderings for the monolith to rise on Third Avenue between 94th and 95th streets have made their way down the pipeline. It appears that the condo building to rise at 1681 Third Avenue will stand 23 storiesalthough YIMBY points out that renderings show a building that's about 30 stories talland will have 84 condos averaging about $2,300 per square foot. Although the building will be tall for the Upper East Side, it won't best DDG's 521-foot-tall building rising at 140 East 88th Street, or SHoP's 34-story building planned for 1711 First Avenue.
Beyer Blinder Belle is the architect of record for the project. According to documents spotted by YIMBY, the building will have about 246,969 square feet of residential space and 14,000 square feet of retail space, and should be complete in 2017.
