Another Manhattan Condo Will Have a Giant Private Pool

New, 17 comments

Yesterday, DNAinfo claimed that a private parking space is the "ultimate status symbol," but when private pools exist, how can that possibly be true? Private swimming pools are way cooler (pun intended), so when the Daily News calls private pools "the ultimate luxury amenity," we're inclined to agree. The statement comes in a story about the "mansion" condo in 172 Madison Avenue, a new condo development under construction near East 33rd Street. The 3,000-square-foot apartment will have a 3,000-square-foot terrace with a 50-foot-long pool. The News says, "there's no way to be 100% certain, but experts believe it's the largest in any apartment in the city," but the penthouse at 551 West 21st Street features a 61-foot-long pool. Hmm. Either way, a private pool is a private pool, and that's pretty damn luxurious in New York City.

Keller Williams broker Efraim Tessler, who is leading sales of the development, says the pool is "pretty wild" and "brings the best of suburbia to the city," which is apparently something that rich people want. The mansion condo is not yet on the market, but it will list for $13 million.

UPDATE: This piece previously stated that Efraim Tessler was the developer, but he is a broker with Keller Williams NYC and is leading sales for 172 Madison. Tessler Developments is the developer.
