We're getting down to the wire with Rentpocalypse looming just over the horizon, and Mayor de Blasio is making a final publicity push in preparation for the expiration date of rent-stabilization laws. In a telephone town hall with the AARP on Friday, the Mayor said that the failure to strengthen and uphold the ever-controversial laws would be a "nightmare" that could cost the city a completely absurd number of affordable units. According to The Post, representatives for landlords (unsurprisingly) said that Hizzoner was "needlessly stoking fear." The laws are set to expire tomorrow. [NYP; previously]
