Cornell Tech Campus Unveils New Looks at Start-Up Incubator

New, 2 comments

Now that construction's a go at Cornell Tech's Roosevelt Island campus, things are moving quickly. After Friday's groundbreaking on the school's 26-story Passive House tower, developer Forest City Ratner has unveiled new details and renderings for another of the school's buildings that will rise in phase one of construction. "The Bridge" as it's heralded in promotional material from the developer (including this corny video), will "house an ecosystem of companies, researchers and entrepreneurs who are focused on catalyzing innovation and the commercialization of new products and technologies." In short, the building will attempt to promote collaboration between the university, established companies and start-ups working in digital technology. The building, designed by WEISS/MANFREDI, will have "flexible spaces" and "loft-like common areas" and will seek to achieve LEED Silver status.

Phase one, which includes the 26-story Passive student housing, The Bridge, and First Academic Building, is expected to be complete in 2017.
