Classic Forest Hills Home With Cathedral Ceilings Asks $2.6M

Our semi-regular feature, Monday Mansion, examines the most interesting mega homes on the market in the far reaches of New York. Have a listing in mind that we're missing? Tell us about it. To the outer boroughs we go!

Architect and urban planner Grosvenor Atterbury made Forest Hills Gardens the picturesque enclave it is today. A four-bedroom house he designed, which has impressive vaulted and beamed ceilings in its three-story-high living room, landed on the market last week with an ask of $2.599 million. There are also "original Dutch doors," wide-plank wood flooring, and a lovely backyard spread over a quarter of an acre—with a stone patio, volleyball court, and "filtered running-water fishpond." Just be warned: in landmarked Forest Hills Gardens, prices are jumping and inventory is high.
