Preview Long Island City's Boro Hotel, Opening Next Week

New, 2 comments

Long Island City is full of hotels, and it's time to welcome another one to the crowd. Meet Boro Hotel—located in a part of Queens that's like the DMZ between Long Island City and Astoria (and which marketing materials label the "emerging area" of "Dutch Kills")—which opens on June 28. The hotel, designed by Grzywinski + Pons, has 108 guest rooms, many of which have terraces and balconies. The overall interior design is quite lovely, since it incorporates the building's concrete and cinderblock materials without feeling overly industrial. The lobby has a fire pit, communal seating, and a cafe bar. There are plans for a ground-floor restaurant and bar with outdoor seating, plus a rooftop bar. A loft-style events space on the 13th floor has views of Manhattan. Opening rates start at $199/night. The one downside, though, is the completely unattractive facade.
