Brooklyn's Pacific Park Finally Offers a Look At Its, Uh, Park

New, 10 comments

A mere 12 years after the inception of the Pacific Park (née Atlantic Yards) megaproject, and three years after the completion of the Barclays Centers, the surrounding area is finally starting to see some of the community benefits that Forest City Ratner promised. (Or at least, to see the beginnings of the processes to actually build those community benefits.) Construction began last week on the second affordable apartment building, and today, the developer unveiled plans for the eponymous Pacific Park, an eight-acre park in Prospect Heights. The park will feature, among other things, a fountain, bocce court, dog run, basketball court, and water garden. The first phase, between Carlton and Vanderbilt avenues. and Dean Street and Atlantic Avenue, is supposed to be ready next summer.
