51-Story Tower at 5 Beekman Street Close to Topping Out

New, 5 comments

The (dull, glassy) condo tower that's currently rising at 5 Beekman Street adjacent to the (beautiful, otherworldly) nineteenth-century office building, Temple Court, is very close to topping out, with the final four floors of mechanicals currently under construction, YIMBY reports.

Once the mechanical floors are complete, work will begin on the building's roof, which prominently features two parapets in homage to the roof of neighboring Temple Court. That building is currently undergoing a difficult conversion into a 287-room luxury hotel. The tower is expected to be completed in 2016, while the hotel will open later this year.

The 51-story tower will eventually have 68 one- to three-bedroom apartments designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen. Prices will start at $1.2 million for the one-bedrooms, $2.95 million for two-bedrooms, and $3.7 million for the three-bedrooms.
