Just three months after the rental-to-condo conversion was announced for the Rosario Candela building at the corner of Central Park West and 96th Street, sales have launched from $1.625 million. As part of 360 Central Park West's conversion, 34 windows are being added to the 76-year-old building's facade so residents can have even more Central Park-ogling views come move-in in 2017. The conversion will also likely bring down the building's apartment count to allow for larger spaces, although how many condos the building will have has yet to be made clear.
The formerly rent-regulated apartments are being reconfigured and spruced-up by CetraRuddy and will have solid oak herringbone floors, custom imported copper range hoods, and marble countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms. Candela fans, do note: you won't find many traditional dining rooms here (at least not with the given floorplans, although the renders appear to show something different.) At least a few of the apartments have a more modern combined living and dining area.
