There are a lot of absurdly named buildings in New York City, and it's time to add another one to the list. Habitat821 is a nine-unit condo building on DeKalb Avenue in Bed-Stuy, and it launched sales of its condos late last week. They're all duplexes with two or three bedrooms and each one has private outdoor space. Developer Crown Investments wanted to build apartments "untraditional to what every other developer was doing in the area"; the apartments range from 556 to 1,745 square feet in size, with the outdoor spaces spanning 270 to 880 square feet. One even has a fire pit. The "French-paned windows" look pretty nice, tooan impressive feat given that this is new construction in a still-developing part of Brooklyn. According to Google Street View, this building has been on the rise since 2011, replacing a vacant lot. Three units are currently on the market, with a 2BR/1.5BA for $995,000 to a 3BR/2.5BA penthouse for $1.395 million.
The building's website also comes with a cheesy (and sorta stilted) marketing video about the neighborhood:
