Biden & Cuomo May Announce Major Good News for LaGuardia

New, 13 comments

Vice President Joe Biden, the same guy who once compared LaGuardia Airport to an airport in a third world country, will join Governor Cuomo to make an announcement about infrastructure on Monday, and insiders suggest to the Daily News that the announcement will largely revolve around the long-awaited LaGuardia overhaul. In late May, Port Authority's Board of Commissioners chose a consortium under the name of LaGuardia Gateway Partners to helm the $4 billion redevelopment of the international airport, with a pledge of $400 million from the governor under the agreement that it would coincide with Cuomo's vision to create a large central terminal.

On Monday, Cuomo is also expected to talk about plans to bring AirTrain to LaGuardia. It's sort of comical that Biden will be present in all of this, but backpedaling on past misgivings is probably not a bad thing to do in a crowd of New Yorkers.
