Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 6 Meadow Set to Open in August

Although the development of Brooklyn Bridge Park continues to be tumultuous, what with the affordable housing controversy, and the building height controversy, and the bridge the closed and never reopened controversy, but now, finally, there's some uncontroversially good news: the park's Pier 6 meadow is set to open next month, according to a report in the Times. Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation President Regina Myer refers to the meadow as the park's most Central Park- or Prospect Park-like feature, with 35 different varieties of plants encircling several lawns, as well as an annex of the Brooklyn Children's Museum; an Environmental Education Center, bathrooms, a dog run, and flower gardens.
