Bronx Residents Anxiously Await Randalls Island Connector

New, 2 comments

Years in the making, the Randalls Island Connector will open "later this summer," according to an article in the Times. The connector will provide an easy route from the South Bronx to the island, which is currently only accessible via the Robert F. Kennedy (née Triborough) Bridge. It was first proposed in 2006 and experienced a variety of delays and setbacks over the past almost-decade. Its impending opening is just about the only new info the Times has, but they did manage to speak to a bunch of Bronx locals and everybody seems pretty excited about it. "Randalls Island has been very much a park of the South Bronx, but it's always been so difficult to reach," said Bronx Congressman Jose Serrano, who was instrumental in getting the Connector funded.
