Composer Gets $18M for Gutted Greenwich Village Townhouse

Composer Jonathan Sheffer, founder of the Eos Orchestra in New York City and musical conductor on several films, has sold his Greenwich Village townhouse for $18.1 million, the Journal reports. Sheffer bought the house in 1993 and listed it last year for $19 million. The house is currently gutted with plans in place for a complete renovation, which will cost the buyers an additional $7 to $10 million. the house is nonetheless impressive—it was built in the 1830s and has three parlor rooms, each with high ceilings and wood-burning fireplaces.
