Renderings Revealed for 86-Unit Brooklyn Heights Building

New, 2 comments

Brooklyn Heights residents freaked out last week when they spotted a drone flying around the neighborhood, but the Brooklyn Eagle reports that it was simply taking photos of the area to help Marvel Architects craft renderings for Jonathan Rose Companies's new apartment building. The 19-story building between Cadman Plaza West and Clinton Street will front on both Montague and Pierrepont streets, and hold 86 rental units. The Eagle rightly calls the "honey-hued" brick building "handsome," and points out that it falls outside of the historic district, so Landmarks Preservation Commission approval is not needed.

Many of the apartments will be "family-sized" three-bedrooms, and 20 percent will be affordable to low-income families. The building's main entrance will be on Pierrepont Street, and there will be no separate "poor door" for the affordable apartments. There will be retail on both sides, and building amenities will include a play room and a second floor terrace. Demolition on the existing Pierrepont Street building is underway, as is asbestos abatement at 189 Montague.

UPDATE: Fogarty Finger is designing the building's lobby, interiors, and amenities.
