It's only been a few weeks since Citi Bike embarked on its (revised) plan to add more stations in Bed-Stuy, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, and Long Island City, but the job is already nearing completion. According to Streetsblog, almost two-thirds of the planned 91 stations in northern Brooklyn and western Queens have already been installed, with most of the remaining stations set to open in Bed-Stuy in the coming weeks.

In the fall, the expansion will creep up to 86th Street in Manhattan, bringing the total number of new stations in the city up to 139.

Oh, and capitalizing on all this good press, Citi Bike will be organizing a free outdoor screening of E.T. in Williamsburg on Tuesday, August 25. Probably because of that famous scene with the bikes! We think they should screen Bicycle Thieves next, but devastating Italian neorealism probably isn't the "tone" that Citi Bike is going for.
