Glassy Whole Foods Brings the Suburbs to Williamsburg

New, 24 comments

The new Whole Foods store is finally taking shape on Bedford Avenue and North 4th Street in Williamsburg, and boy is it ever a large glass box. Brownstoner has photos of the new building, which is straight out of the New Jersey suburbs, and it looks like the glassy structure will closely resemble the latest rendering. It's on track for a spring 2016 opening, so North Brooklynites still have a bit of a wait before they can be overcharged for organic milk and asparagus water.

Brownstoner notes that the entrance to the parking garage (Department of Buildings filings indicate 28 spaces in the cellar level) will be on North 4th Street, and the Berry Street side of the building is sheathed in a less ostentatious red brick.
