It was hard not to poke a little bit of fun at the name of the condo development rising at 34-32 35th Street in Queens when it was first announced as The Marx back in November. Marx, as in the father of communism? The slapstick comedians? Although the better joke would have been the former for a few reasons, not least of which being that these condos actually aren't that expensive for the area, it turns out that the 33-condo development was named after The Marx Brothers who filmed some of their more well-known movies in the development's Astoria locale. Sales in the building quietly launched on August 11, with 20-percent of the one- and two-bedroom apartments now spoken for.
Apartments in the building have hardwood floors, breakfast bars, Bosch appliances, Liebherr refrigerators, and master bathrooms with hand-held rainhead shower heads and heated towel bars. Some apartments have private outdoor space. Two apartments are currently listed: a $630,000 1BR/1BA, and an $865,000 2BR/2BA.
