A new supertall tower may be coming to Midtown. Real estate wunderkind Jared Kushner and Steve Roth of Vornado Realty Trust are in talks of redeveloping 666 Fifth Avenue, at the corner of West 53rd Street, into a 1,400-foot tower with a hotel, condos, and retail. As it stands now, the 1957 building rises 41 stories, but the Post says that the two ambitious dudes are looking into "restacking" the building to create a vertical mall along Fifth Avenue. The plan gains some serious clout with Zaha Hadid, who has already created a schematic for the building that includes a multi-floor retail podiumsecond- and third-floor retail is becoming a thingtopped by a slender hotel and condo.
The new tower would be just around the corner from 53W53, the Jean Nouvel-designed MoMA tower that will stand 1,050 feet, and the Baccarat Hotel & Residences, which is now 80-percent sold.
