Just what Brooklyn needs: some more expensive rental apartments. This batch comes courtesy developer, grocery tycoon, erstwhile mayoral candidate, and mastermind behind the greatest Christmas card ever, John Catsimatidis, and is part of Cats's string of developments along Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene (h/t Brownstoner). Named the Giovanni (after his son), the building at 81 Fleet Place holds 205 apartments, 32 of which are currently listed on the open market. Rents start at $2,125 per month for a 479-square-foot studio and go up to $4,200 per month for a 907-square-foot two-bedroom. A handful of units have balconies, and at least two apartments have terraces that are bigger than the interiors. The whole shebang was designed by Dattner Architects, and according to the brokerbabble, the apartments are "fabulous" and "a dream come true."
The apartments have maple floors, subway tile-lined bathrooms, and stainless steel kitchen appliances, including dishwashers. Building amenities include a 2,000-square-foot fitness center with yoga studio, a screening room, game room, lounge, playroom, and a third floor deck with grills. And we'd be remiss not to mention the A+ brokerbabble. A few highlights:
"Wikipedia should define fabulous as this super cool apartment at 81 Fleet, because Apartment 10P fits that description to perfection."
"Huge and gorgeous corner apartments at 81 Fleet go faster than free center court tickets to the Nets vs. the Knicks Game. In this case though, the winner is pre-determined and that winner would be YOU."
"Unobstructed views and wonderful northern light make living in apartment 7C a dream come true. This, along with 100 other things, makes The Giovanni such a special home destination in Brooklyn."
"You can spend your time daydreaming while looking at the gorgeous city and river views from your home, or you can spend time entertaining guests in your large living room or relaxing or working out at the sprawling amenities floor. But, no matter how you spend your time, this terrific brand new apartment is the answer."
