New Fort Greene Rentals Claim to Be 'A Dream Come True'

Just what Brooklyn needs: some more expensive rental apartments. This batch comes courtesy developer, grocery tycoon, erstwhile mayoral candidate, and mastermind behind the greatest Christmas card ever, John Catsimatidis, and is part of Cats's string of developments along Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene (h/t Brownstoner). Named the Giovanni (after his son), the building at 81 Fleet Place holds 205 apartments, 32 of which are currently listed on the open market. Rents start at $2,125 per month for a 479-square-foot studio and go up to $4,200 per month for a 907-square-foot two-bedroom. A handful of units have balconies, and at least two apartments have terraces that are bigger than the interiors. The whole shebang was designed by Dattner Architects, and according to the brokerbabble, the apartments are "fabulous" and "a dream come true."

The apartments have maple floors, subway tile-lined bathrooms, and stainless steel kitchen appliances, including dishwashers. Building amenities include a 2,000-square-foot fitness center with yoga studio, a screening room, game room, lounge, playroom, and a third floor deck with grills.
