Another day, another record-setter. Prices just keep going up, up, up, so naturally, records keep being broken. This one is for the most expensive condo ever sold in Brooklyn. As expected, it's the penthouse at under-construction One John Street, which entered contract (h/t Crain's). It was originally listed for $8.8 million, but the price was upped to a very specific $8,892,272 the same day it entered contract, so we're going to go out on a limb and say that's what it sold for. It will be several months before the sale actually closes—that should happen in the spring—but when it does, it will usurp the $7 million sale of a unit in the Clocktower, also in Dumbo, for the top spot (coincidentally, that Clocktower unit could have broken its own record, as it's currently listed for $8.6 million). Crain's reports that One John Street is now 80 percent sold.
There are several other condos on the market that could beat One John Street's penthouse to the punch. The massive and inexplicable combo penthouse at One Brooklyn Bridge Park is still on the market for $32 million (or $27.7 million if you want just a little less of it), and of course, there is the $18 million penthouse in the Clocktower, which has languishing at that price for two and a half years (for those keeping track, it's been on and off the market for nearly six years). There's also a Pierhouse condo that's listed for more than $10 million.
